
Global primary aluminium production stood at 5.725 million tonnes in March (31 days), with a year-on-year increase of 4.97% from 5.454 million tonnes in March 2020, according to the latest data showed by the International Aluminium Institute (IAI). On a monthly basis, the output rose by 10.37% from 5.187 million tonnes in February (28 days).

Total primary aluminium production came in at 16.639 million tonnes in the first three months of 2021. That was an increase of 3.57% from 16.065 million tonnes in the first three months of 2020.
In Asia ex-China, aluminium production was 378,000 tonnes in March, up 8.93% year-on-year and 11.5% month-on-month. In January-March, output stood at 1.093 million tonnes, up from 1.036 million tonnes in January-March 2020.
In the Middle East, primary aluminium production stood at 497,000 tonnes and 1.445 million tonnes in March and January-March 2021. That was a decrease of 0.4% and 1.7% year-on-year from 499,000 tonnes and 1.470 million tonnes in March and January-March 2020.
China’s estimated primary aluminium production stood at 3.310 million tonnes in March, IAI data showed.
