The steady fall of Japan’s Aluminium wire import market during 2017-20

The Japanese demand for aluminium in 2019 remained strong, though the aluminium wire import market reflected de-growth during 2017-19.

The total import volume during 2017-19 was recorded at 23,302 tonnes and the foreign revenue expended stood at $77.28 million. The import estimated for 2020 is 6479 tonnes, while the revenue to be expended might reach to $21.23 million. When the figures are added with the last three years, the import volume reflects 29,682 tonnes and expenditure stands at $98.51 million.

The major countries Japan has been trading for aluminium wires are Bahrain, Canada, Netherlands, Thailand, UK, USA, Vietnam, etc.

Japan’s aluminium wire import market in 2017 was recorded at 8492 tonnes with revenue expenditure stands at $28.54 million. In 2018 the aluminium wire import of Japan reflected a minor fall by 196 tonnes on Y-o-Y, as the total import stood at 8296 tonnes, a de-growth by 2.30% and the total revenue paid was recorded at $28.15 million.

In 2019, Japan’s import saw a steep fall by 22.67%, as the total import volume stood at 6415 tonnes with Y-o-Y drop by 1881 tonnes, while the foreign revenue expended was $20.59 million.

The estimated import volume for 2020 reflects a negligible rise by 0.98%, as the total export has been analysed at 6479 tonnes.
