South32’aluminium production stands marginally higher at 248,000 tonnes in 1Q21

South32 Ltd reported a 1% quarter-on-quarter rise in aluminium production in the September quarter. Aluminium production stood at 248,000 tonnes in 1Q21, from 245,000 tonnes in 4Q20. The output remained unchanged year-on-year.

Hillside Aluminium saleable production increased by 1% quarter-on-quarter to 180,000 in the September 2020 quarter as the smelter continued to test its maximum technical capacity, despite the impact from load-shedding. The output was down 1% year-on-year.
The production guidance remains unchanged at 720,000 tonnes for FY21.
Mozal Aluminium saleable production increased by 1% quarter-on-quarter to 68,000 tonnes in the September 2020 quarter as the smelter continued to test its maximum technical capacity, despite the impact from load-shedding. The output was also up by 1% year-on-year.
The production guidance remains unchanged at 273,000 tonnes for FY21.
