
China is one of the foremost producers of aluminium semis apart from being the biggest manufacturer of primary aluminium. The country’s semi-finished products export hit a peak in 2016. {alcircleadd}According to the latest numbers reported by China Customs, the shipments of Chinese unwrought aluminium and aluminium semis fell considerably in June. The exports of unwrought aluminium and aluminium semis stood at 460,000 tonnes in June, drop 79.73 per cent on a yearly basis. The total exports of the same were 2.41 million tonnes in the first six months of 2017, up 5.9 per cent a yearly basis.

According to the estimated data, China exported 21424 tonnes of aluminium tubes and pipes in Q1 2016-17 as compared to 27543 tonnes in the Q1 2017-18. The export volume stood at about 19623 tonnes in Q2 2016-17. The country is expected to export about 27758 tonnes of aluminium pipes and tubes in Q2 2017-18. The volume is expected to rise drastically in Q2 2017- 18 as compared to Q2 2016-17.

China’s revenue from export of aluminium pipes and tubes stood at USD 79.63 million in Q1 2016-17 as compared to USD 99.55 million in Q1 2017-18. The value from export reached USD 76.22 million in Q2 2016-17. The country is estimated to register a sharp rise in export revenues in Q2 2017-18 as compared to Q2 2016-17. The value is estimated to stand at USD 99.96 million.

In 2016, Thailand imported 7284 tonnes of aluminium tubes and pipes from China. Mexico imported 6671 tonnes and India imported 3829 tonnes of aluminium pipes and tubes from the country.
