Serbia’s export of Aluminium Plates, Sheets and Strips during 2018-20 reveals downturn

On 27^th January 2021, Aleksandar Vucic, President of Serbia said: “Serbia ranked first among 38 European economies in terms of year-on-year growth in gross domestic product (GDP) in the first quarter.” While in a statement from Serbia's Foreign Ministry, Vucic said Serbia is the first in Europe in terms of economic growth, which was possible owing to the reform measures taken since 2014 and the rapid opening of the country after the first wave of the novel coronavirus.”

The landlocked country situated at the crossroads of Central and Southeast Europe in the southern Pannonian Plain and the central Balkans has recorded 106,933 tonnes exports of aluminium plates, sheets and strips during 2018-19 and the revenue earned from the export remained at $252.28 million. The export for 2020 stood at 46,066 tonnes and the earnings remained at $108.62 million. However, when the export volume and earnings for 2020 gets added with the existing two years, it signifies 152,999 tonnes and $360.90 million respectively.

Serbia’s export of aluminium plates, sheets and strips in 2018 stood at 54,080 tonnes and the earnings remained at $126.70 million, whereas in 2019, the export revealed de-growth by 2.26%, as the export volume dropped to 52,853 tonnes and the earnings also fell to $125.58 million.

The export for 2020 reflects a dip by 12.84%, as the export volume declined to 46,066 tonnes and the earnings shrunk to $108.62 million.

Serbia’s major trading nations for the export of aluminium plates, sheets and strips are Austria, Belarus, Bosnia Herzegovina, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Rep., Denmark, Finland, etc.
