
Rusal, one of the largest aluminium producers in the world has signed a cooperation agreement with Russian Railways (RZD) at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum for the rail transportation of agreed cargo volumes from Rusal. RZD is one of the three largest transport companies in the world.

“RUSAL has always been interested in establishing long-term mutually beneficial cooperation with Russian Railways, our long-standing and reliable partner. This agreement will further reinforce our business relationship, allowing us to optimize logistics and ensure the stable operation of enterprises and the development of the supply chain to customers,” commented Evgenii Nikitin, CEO of RUSAL.
Under the agreement, RUSAL would present the cargo according to the pre-agreed schedules with the Russian Railways. The Company will also consider the possibility of keeping the shipment volumes at the level of 2018. Russian Railways OJSC also intends to transport RUSAL’s cargo in agreed volumes. A flexible tariff policy would be implemented keeping in view the mutual benefits for both the parties and in accordance with the Russian Federation legislation.
The agreement was signed by Oleg Belozerov, Chief Executive Officer – Chairman of the Executive Board of RZD, and Evgenii Nikitin, Chief Executive Officer of RUSAL.
RUSAL, a leader of the global aluminium industry produces bauxite, alumina and aluminium. In 2018, the Company accounted for about 5.8% of global production of aluminium and 6.2% of alumina production. The company produced 928,000 tonnes of aluminium and 1.9 tonnes of alumina in Q1 2019.
