RUSA announced today that it has entered into a five year agreement with ENERGOPROM Group (EPM) for the supply of 21,500 tonnes of cathode blocks per year. Cathode blocks are critical materials for production of primary aluminium.

In the period from 2018 through 2022 ENERGOPROM will cover up to 70 per cent of the total demand for coal-graphite raw materials of company's smelters. The company will supply the products from its Novosibirsk Electrode Plant- the largest of its kind in Russia.
Vladislav Soloviev, CEO of RUSAL, commented: “The security of raw materials supply is one of RUSAL’s long term priorities that ensures stable operation of our production facilities. A fixed price, which is a condition of the five-year contract, will help to mitigate risks related to imports, as prior to signing of this contract the vast majority of carbon-graphite products for the aluminium plants had been supplied from abroad.”
ENERGOPROM Group is a Russian manufacturer of graphite and carbon-based products. The company’s core business is the production of graphite electrodes, cathodes and other carbon and graphite products for the steelmaking, aluminium, ferroalloys, silicon, chemical and machine building industries.
Victor Nechuyatov, General Director of the group ENERGOPROM, said: “This is the first long-term contract for the entire period of more than 40 years of cooperation between the companies. Confidence in the longterm demand for our products will allow us to plan long-term investments in the modernization and expansion of production capacities.”
