
RUSAL, one of the world’s major producers of aluminium, appointed Ayumi Murakami as Representative Director of the Company’s office in Tokyo.

In March 2015 Murakami joined Rusal’s Japan office as a Technical Customer Support Manager in the sales team.
Murakami was appointed as an acting Representative Director of Rusal Japan in February 2019. Murakami worked for Mitsubishi Aluminium from 1993 in various technical roles before joining Rusal.
Murakami demonstrated excellent results during his work in RUSAL, building relationships with the Company’s Japanese customers, launching key qualifications to grow the business in Japan and organized RUSAL’s participation in international industrial exhibitions, including Metal Expo Tokyo in December 2019.
Roman Andryushin, RUSAL’s Head of Sales and Marketing said: “Japan has always been one of the key markets for RUSAL in Asia, where we have witnessed increasing demand for our green aluminium ALLOW. We are proud of our solid long-term relationships that Murakami-san has been integral in establishing over the years”.
He also added “The appointment of Ayumi Murakami as the Representative Director of RUSAL Japan will help us further develop this market and strengthen our position as the world largest producer of low-carbon aluminium. It will also ensure we maintain the top level of client support that is so valued in this region”.
The demand for primary aluminium in Japan was around 2 million tonnes in 2019. Asian sales accustomed to 19% of the total RUSAL sales in the first nine months of 2019.
