
In June 2021, the World Bank stated that the GDP of Romania is expected to grow by 6% this year, improving its January forecast by 2.5% points. By 2022, the World Bank expects the Romanian economy to expand by 4.5%, higher than the previously projected 4.1% rise in the gross domestic product (GDP) for next year, it said in its June 2021 Global Economic Prospects report. However, Romania's government is targeting 5% economic growth in 2021.

The south-eastern European nation, Romania imported 103,391 tonnes of aluminium bar rods and profiles during 2018-20 and the expenditure occurred for the import was $360.80 million.
In 2018, Romania’s import of aluminium bar rods and profiles was recorded at 22,652 tonnes and the expenditure accounted for $91.54 million, whereas, in 2019, the import attracted growth by 71.76%, as the import volume soared to $144.87 million.
Romania’s import of aluminium bar rods and profiles in 2020 was registered at 41,831 tonnes, indicating an increase in demand by 7.51%, while the expenditure notified was $124.39 million.

The import of aluminium bar rods and profiles for 2021 is analysed with a 6.59% drop, as the import volume is expected to plunge and remain at 39,071 tonnes and the expenditure to stand at $118.05 million.
The major trading destinations for Romania’s import of aluminium bar rods and profiles are Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, China, Czech Rep., Croatia, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece.
