The milestone marks an important step in Hydro’s work to develop a new primary aluminium production process with the aim of achieving net-zero emissions. Since 2016, Hydro’s technology teams have been working to develop HalZero, an entirely new process for producing primary aluminium, which could replace the technology used globally today, first patented in 1886.
