Oman’s aluminium bar rods and profile exports to outpace imports in 2018

It is expected that Oman’s exports of aluminium bar rods and profile will be more than imports in 2018. The country is home to some of Middle East’s leading aluminium extrusion manufacturers.

As shown in data, Oman imported an estimated 22150 tonnes of aluminium bar rods and profiles in 2016. The total cost of import was USD 62 million. In 2017, the country imported an estimated 24339 tonnes of aluminium bar rods and profiles and the cost of import was USD 61 million.

Oman’s import of aluminium bar rods and profiles is expected to increase slightly in 2018. The country is estimated to import 24525 tonnes of aluminium bar rods and profiles in this year. The value of import is estimated to stand at USD 63 million by the end of the current year.

United Arab Emirates and India imported the largest chunk of aluminium bar rods and profiles in 2017. Oman exported 32349 tonnes of this product to United Arab Emirates last year, data shows.

Oman exported 37039 tonnes of aluminium bar rods and profiles in 2017 as compared to 28285 tonnes in 2016. The total value of export was USD 41 million and 68 million in 2016 and 2017 respectively. In 2018, the country is estimated to export 35059 tonnes of aluminium bar rods and profiles with total revenue amounting to around USD 69 million.

According to recent estimates, in 2017, the top exporters of aluminium bar rods and profiles to Oman are United Arab Emirates (20392 tonnes), Bahrain (2017 tonnes) and Saudi Arabia (1152 tonnes).
