Odisha: Aluminium Smelter Plant of Sesa Sterlite Ltd. awarded with National Energy Conservation Award

Adding feather to its rich collections of awards and accolades over the years, for exhibiting and discharging its commitment towards the cause of environment, focusing on superior energy management, Sesa Sterlite Aluminium Smelter Plant, Jharsuguda (formerly Vedanta Aluminium Ltd.) has been awarded with the prestigious “National Energy Conservation Awards 2013” in Aluminium sector across the country, during the recently concluded “National Energy Conservation Day Celebrations” organized by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) , Ministry of Power, Government of India on 16th December 2013. This prestigious award was received by Head Aluminium Smelter Plant, Mr.Dayanidhi Behera from the Hon’ble President of India Shri Pranab Mukherjee in the gracious presence of Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia, Hon'ble Minister of State for Power (Independent Charge), in a glittering function held at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi.
Apart from the incredible repute that the award is associated with, the unbiased and robust methodology which was applied to identify the Organizations to be conferred with the award makes it even more special. It is pertinent to mention here that the “National Energy Conservation Award” has been instituted by BEE with the primary objective of recognizing the existing best practices in the sphere of efficient energy management and encouraging more and more Industries to reduce their overall natural resource consumption, thereby meeting the overall commitment of the country to the world community on Energy conservation and Environment.
This award not only brings Sesa Sterlite at Jharsuguda under the overall conservation efforts laid by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (Ministry of Power, Govt. of India) but also reaffirms its commitment towards adhering to greener business practices which are not merely energy efficient but further downscale the effects of their operations on the environment and its constituent Natural Resources, says Mr. Abhijit Pati, President and COO, Aluminium, Sesa Sterlite Ltd.
