National Museum of Science and Technology to open a permanent aluminium exhibition

2MINS READ
A new permanent interactive exhibition dedicated to aluminium – a light and infinitely recyclable metal valued in packaging, mechanics, design – is opening on March 7 and 8, Saturday and Sunday, with two special guests: artist Michelangelo Pistoletto and chef Niko Romito.

Artist Michelangelo Pistoletto and Michelin-three-star chef Niko Romito will introduce the new area of the National Museum of Science and Technology, Milan dedicated to aluminium. A permanent exhibition designed and produced by the National Museum of Science and Technology, with CiAl - Aluminium Packaging Consortium as the main partner.

The exhibition turns the spotlight on a light and energetic material: aluminium. On Thursday, March 5 at 6:30pm there will be a meeting open to the public where Pistoletto and Romito tell more about their professional experience in relation to this metal.

Aluminium is durable, light, malleable, a good conductor of electricity and heat and infinitely recyclable. This new exhibition highlights the properties of the metal and its alloys along with its numerous applications, both visible and hidden. Packaging, transport, construction, industry, durable products: aluminium is valuable in all fields.

The exhibition helps visitors to see and experience aluminium in its various aspects, processes and finishes, appreciating its beauty and versatility. The exhibition will highlight the industrial processes of the past and present while explaining the differences between producing the metal from mineral and producing it from scrap.

There would also be some inspiring historical objects on display, some of which have been restored for the occasion and original videos from manufacturing plants.

On March 7 and 8, the first weekend after the opening of the exhibition, visitors will be offered guided tours and thematic workshops included in the ticket price.
