National Aluminium Company Ltd (NALCO) has reported a rise of 10 per cent in net profit at 21 million dollar (approx.) for the 3rd quarter ended Dec 31st.
The Orissa based Navratna PSU had posted a net profit of 19 million dollar (approx.) during the corresponding quarter of the last fiscal year. Net sales of Nalco dropped to 260 million dollar (approx.), down 2.94 per cent in the last quarter against 267 million dollar (approx.) of the 3rd quarter of FY'13, the report in BSE says.
Other income, which is mainly interests earned on deposits, was up by 7.18 per cent to 19 million dollar (approx.) in the last quarter.
The third quarter financial results say, 1.4 million tonnes of alumina hydrate was produced by Nalco, during the first nine months of the financial year 2013-14, a 12.2 per cent rise against 1.3 million tonnes produced during the same period of the last fiscal.
However, metal production dropped to 0.24 million tonnes from 0.3 million tonnes in the last nine months of the last fiscal.
Power generation was 3,760 MU compared to 4,582 MU achieved in the same period of the previous year. During the third quarter, alumina hydrate production was 0.5 million tonnes, 17.4 per cent up as against 0.4 million tonnes produced during the corresponding quarter of the last fiscal year.
Third quarter metal production has dropped to 0.08 million tonnes, against 0.1 million tonnes produced in the same quarter of the previous year.
Nalco generated 1,249 MU power in the third quarter, as against 1,525 MU produced during the corresponding quarter of the last fiscal year.
Shares of Nalco closed at INR 36.50 a piece on the BSE on January 29, up 2.96 per cent from the previous close. Its results were announced post market hours on 29th January.
