Manaksia Ltd issues work suspension orders at Haldia aluminium unit

Manaksia Ltd which was formerly known as Hindusthan Seals Ltd. has issued a suspension order for the workers of the aluminium unit at Haldia for an indefinite period post agitation.
According to the officials, the permanent workers were working slowly for the last couple of days as a sign of protest and demanding an immediate raise in salary, a hike of almost 50%. When the management stated that they would have to wait till the plant resumed operation after the maintenance closure, they got violent and stated assaulting the official.
“We have been compelled to issue suspension of work notice in the aluminium unit at Haldia after attack on a company management official,” a senior Manaksia group official told The Statesman. The company also owns a steel division and it is working without any hassles.
