Australian Pharmaceutical Industries (API), the parent company of popular brands such as Priceline, Soul Pattinson and Pharmacist Advice, has established a brand new 32,506 sqm distribution centre in Marsden Park, Sydney. After vivid scrutiny, KOMBI aluminium stairs and walkways were chosen by the organisation for smooth manoeuvre within the distribution centre.
KNAPP Australia was entrusted with the task of designing, building and installing a large, automated racking and conveyor system for this project.

This state-of-the-art facility has extensive conveyor systems that require regular maintenance and free movement for operators. However, given the challenging, complex layout and design of the conveyor systems, it was crucial to find a solution that could work around the existing infrastructure and structural steel. That's where KOMBI came to the rescue.
KOMBI's modular and lightweight design enabled easy access around the existing structures, regardless of whether it was up, over or around them. The KOMBI Builda facilitated the initial design process, allowing engineers to build their own access solutions in real-time. After several meetings between SAYFA and KNAPP, it was decided that KOMBI's elevated walkways, aluminium stairs and conveyor access platforms were the perfect solution.
The modular design of KOMBI proved to be a game-changer, especially with last-minute adjustments and changes. Being lightweight also simplified the installation process, which could have been a lot more difficult with steel systems. KOMBI systems are manufactured from lightweight aluminium, which offers several advantages over steel.
Distribution centres can be complex and challenging, and ensuring personnel are safe when moving around these areas is paramount.
