Dirk Oehlerking of Kingston Custom is widely recognized for his impressive work in the world of custom motorcycles. His latest creation, the BMW R 18 The Crown, has been generating quite a buzz among enthusiasts, following the success of his previous masterpiece, the R 18 Spirit of Passion.

The Crown is an exceptional tribute to BMW Motorrad's 100-year anniversary, designed with great care and artistry. Oehlerking utilized innovative materials such as hard foam and cardboard to create a truly unique and powerful design. The 2 mm thick aluminium sheet metal used in the self-designed body adds a touch of sophistication to the overall look.
The technology behind this visionary motorcycle had to be reimagined to accommodate the unique design. Oehlerking engineered a completely new front wheel suspension in the form of a double-sided swinging arm with a central suspension strut. The 8-liter fuel tank and body parts were crafted with great precision, resulting in a seamless, hand-crafted finish. Even the two stainless steel exhaust manifolds were shaped by hand with utmost care.

The BMW R 18 The Crown seamlessly integrates standard components into its concept. The Magura clutch and handbrake fittings, the Wunderkind rear mudguard, and the 2 mm thick aluminium sheet metal saddle, adorned with genuine leather, all contribute to its overall appeal.
Finally, Oehlerking chose a Champagne Platinum paint finish, complemented by a shimmering mother-of-pearl effect and the iconic BMW brand emblem crowned with a regal insignia, as the perfect finishing touch for this masterpiece.
The BMW R 18 The Crown was revealed during the BMW Motorrad Days in Berlin, from 7 to 9 July 2023, in honor of BMW Motorrad's legendary journey.
