Kazakhstan’s aluminium stranded wires import during 2019-21 demonstrates a steady growth; a marginal rise of 0.2% predicted for 2022

Aluminium wiring at home can be either solid or stranded. There is only one piece of wire in a solid aluminium wire, which is typically found on lower amperage (15A & 20A) 120V circuits. A stranded wire contains multiple wires that are bundled together to create a larger wire and are typically found on high-amperage circuits (>25A) in the home. Although solid wire isn't commonly used in residential construction anymore, stranded aluminium wire is quite common, and in fact, can be used safely in residential buildings if properly installed.

Kazakhstan has come across an astonishing economic performance since its independence in 1991. As a result of structural reforms, abundant hydrocarbon resources, strong domestic demand, and foreign direct investment, the nation has experienced rapid growth helping to reduce poverty and transform itself into an upper-middle-income economy.

The Central Asian country, Kazakhstan imported 4877 tonnes of aluminium-stranded wires during 2019-21, taking into account expenditure of around $10.48 million. Kazakhstan is counted as one of the leading importers of aluminium-stranded wires in the CIS countries.

Kazakhstan's import of aluminium stranded wires

In 2019, Kazakhstan imported 1300 tonnes of aluminium stranded wires, accounting expenditure of $2.85 million, whereas, in 2020, the import volume soared to 1667 tonnes, marking a growth of 28.23% and the revenue outflow was documented at $2.90 million.

The import of aluminium-stranded wires in 2021 was reported to have a further growth by 14.57%, as the import volume scaled up to 1910 tonnes and expenditure rose to $4.73 million. The gradual upsurge in the global aluminium price has been the key factor for such escalation in the stranded wires import price.

Kazakhstan’s import of aluminium stranded wires for 2022 is analysed with a marginal growth of 0.20%, as the import volume is estimated to reach 1914 tonnes, while expenditure is anticipated to remain at $4.54 million.

The major trading destinations for Kazakhstan’s import of aluminium stranded are Russia, China, etc.
