In conversation with Mr Manish Bansal, the Director and CEO of Window Magic highlights  aluminium’s pivotal role in reshaping India’s architectural and fenestration industry, offering strength, design flexibility, and sustainability compared to traditional materials. He notes its recyclability, energy-efficient technologies, and alignment with global trends like minimalistic frames, unitised curtain walls, and dynamic façades. With European technology raising performance standards and digital tools like BIM and smart glass driving precision and efficiency, aluminium is positioned as the material of choice for future-ready buildings. Backed by Window Magic’s sustainability initiatives, diversification, and innovation-driven culture, Bansal sees aluminium as central to India’s construction evolution.

AL Circle: How do you see aluminium shaping the future of India’s architectural and fenestration industry compared to traditional materials?

Manish Bansal:  Aluminium is redefining the Indian fenestration industry with its superior strength to weight ratio, corrosion resistance and design flexibility. Unlike traditional materials such as wood or steel, aluminium enables slim profiles, larger spans and modern aesthetics, while requiring minimal maintenance. It also aligns with evolving preferences for energy efficiency and sustainability. As urban skylines evolve, aluminium’s adaptability across high rise, commercial and green building projects positions it as the future forward material of choice for architects and developers driving India’s construction narrative.

AL Circle: With increasing demand for sustainable building solutions, how is aluminium positioned as a material of choice for architects and developers? What are the key global architectural trends in aluminium fenestration that you believe will dominate the Indian market in the next 5–10 years?

Manish Bansal:  Aluminium is 100 per cent recyclable without quality degradation, making it a preferred material in green architecture. Its thermal break technologies and compatibility with high performance glazing enhance energy efficiency. Globally, trends such as minimalistic frames, sliding façade systems, unitised curtain walls and dynamic shading are gaining ground. Over the next decade, India will likely witness increased demand for integrated façade systems, double skin façades and parametric designs, all of which leverage aluminium’s flexibility. These innovations will push aluminium to the forefront of sustainable and high performance building envelope solutions.

AL Circle: Window Magic is known for adopting advanced European technology. How has technology enhanced the performance of aluminium systems in India?

Manish Bansal:  European technology has elevated aluminium fenestration in India by enhancing structural integrity, thermal performance and acoustic insulation. At Window Magic, we’ve implemented multi chambered profiles, pressure equalised rain screens and thermal break systems, ensuring superior airtightness and water tightness. CNC precision fabrication and European hardware integration allow for seamless operation and long lasting durability. These technologies ensure that aluminium systems meet global performance standards, catering to both India’s varied climatic conditions and the rising expectations of informed homeowners and developers.

AL Circle: How do you balance the trade-off between sleek architectural design and the structural performance requirements of aluminium fenestration systems? What innovations in aluminium façade and window systems excite you the most right now?

Manish Bansal:  Balancing aesthetics and performance begins with profile engineering, using high strength aluminium alloys and thermal reinforcements to allow slim yet structurally robust frames. Innovations such as concealed hardware, frameless glass to glass junctions and automated operable façades are redefining possibilities. We are particularly excited by unitised façade systems with integrated ventilation and smart control features. These solutions not only elevate design but also meet stringent wind load and insulation norms, critical in high rise urban projects. This convergence of form and function is the future of fenestration.

AL Circle: Could you share insights into the role of digital tools (BIM, parametric design, smart glass integration) in shaping aluminium architectural products?

Manish Bansal:  Digital tools like BIM and parametric design enable precision in planning, clash detection and material optimisation, especially critical in complex façade systems. They allow real time collaboration between architects, engineers and fabricators, reducing errors and accelerating project timelines. At Window Magic, we are integrating smart glass and IoT based systems into aluminium products, enabling dynamic shading and thermal modulation. These technologies not only enhance building performance but also support sustainability goals, giving clients data driven insights into energy consumption and occupant comfort.

AL Circle: You converted your manufacturing facility to solar power and collaborated with waste management organisations. How central is sustainability to Window Magic’s identity today? What role do energy efficiency and green building standards play in shaping Window Magic’s aluminium and uPVC offerings?

Manish Bansal:  Sustainability is integral to Window Magic’s DNA, from design to delivery. Our solar powered plant reduces carbon footprint significantly, while our zero landfill waste management initiatives ensure responsible production. Both our aluminium and uPVC systems are designed to meet IGBC and GRIHA green building standards, offering superior U values and airtightness. Through low emission materials and energy efficient products, we support clients in achieving LEED and other global certifications. Sustainability is no longer optional, it’s a core differentiator in our innovation and brand ethos.

AL Circle: From 40 employees to over 400 plus contract workers, Window Magic has grown exponentially. What key strategies enabled this transformation?

Manish Bansal:  Our growth is rooted in continuous innovation, strategic partnerships and a customer centric approach. Investing early in advanced manufacturing infrastructure, global technology tie ups and talent development laid the foundation. We focused on creating scalable systems, standardising processes and integrating digital tools across operations. Diversifying product lines and entering niche markets, such as premium aluminium systems, expanded our footprint. Equally important was fostering a strong organisational culture that empowered teams to own outcomes, adapt quickly and strive for excellence.

AL Circle: You spearheaded diversification into aluminium systems, glass partitions, and façade solutions. What motivated this expansion beyond uPVC?

Manish Bansal:  The shift was driven by market demand and a vision to provide holistic architectural solutions. While uPVC remains strong in the residential segment, aluminium offers scalability for commercial and high-rise projects. The demand for integrated façade solutions, acoustic partitions and design led products is growing. Expanding into these verticals allowed us to meet the evolving needs of architects and developers, offering end to end solutions backed by performance engineering, aesthetic flexibility and sustainability, all under the Window Magic umbrella.

AL Circle: As a leader, what values do you believe have most influenced Window Magic’s transformation into one of the most professionally managed fenestration companies in India?

Manish Bansal:  Transparency, innovation and resilience are core to our transformation. Professionalism starts with accountability and clarity, in customer service, project execution and team collaboration. We have cultivated a culture of innovation where every challenge is seen as an opportunity to evolve. Investing in people, through training, mentorship and recognition has helped us build a team aligned with the company’s long term vision. These values have not only driven growth but established Window Magic as a trusted, future ready brand in India’s fenestration landscape.

AL Circle: How do you inspire your team to constantly innovate and keep pace with design and architectural trends?

Manish Bansal:  We foster an innovation first culture by encouraging curiosity, cross functional collaboration and continuous learning. Regular design workshops, global exposure trips and joint R&D with European partners keep our teams aligned with emerging trends. We empower employees to contribute ideas and prototype new concepts. By blending creativity with technical rigor, we ensure solutions are both visionary and viable. Leadership plays a key role in setting this tone by being accessible, supportive, and driven by a shared goal to lead India’s fenestration innovation frontier.
