
After three eventful days of delegation networking, brainstorming and paper presentation, of 5th International Bauxite, Alumina & Aluminium Society (IBAAS) symposium with a highlight on the evolving Asia-Pacific aluminium industry and the issue of sustainability for the aluminium industry came to an end on Wednesday September 28.
The One Day Theme Symposium on Energy Reduction in Aluminium Smelting, jointly organized with The Indian Institute of Metals (IIM) was an apt platform that opened up a number of significant issues regarding energy saving in aluminium industry. A number of important ongoing studies on energy savings in the alumina refining and aluminium smelting were presented during the symposium.
Some of the big names from the aluminium value chain, both from the R&D and the industry sector like Vedanta, Nalco, Rio Tinto, Hindalco, Balco, Gami, Chalieco, JNARDDC were in the symposium to present before the delegates their latest projects and applications in the aluminium sector. Names like CRU and Roskil from the Research and analytics and intelligence sector presented interesting viewpoint on the innovations taking place in the aluminium sector both in the market and technical side.

The Symposium provided an excellent opportunity to meet and interact with primary and downstream aluminium industries and International experts, scientists, engineers, entrepreneurs, equipment manufacturers, representatives of aluminium and related industries world over.
