As per the data laid out by International Aluminium Institute (IAI), it can be witnessed that China had a massive haul of 38,837,000 tonnes of primary aluminium in 2021, which grew by 1,593,000 tonnes over a year to reach 40,430,000 tonnes in 2023. In Q1 2022, the total primary aluminium production in China was 9,590,000 tonnes, and in Q1 2023, it was 10,019,000 tonnes, meaning there has been a growth of 429,000 tonnes.
In June 2023, the total aluminium production in China was 3,377,000 tonnes, which escalated Month-on-Month by 93,000 tonnes to 3,470,000 tonnes in July 2023. In April 2023, the aluminium production in China stood at 3,364,000 tonnes, which increased by 106,000 tonnes on a Quarter-on-Quarter basis to reach 3,470,000 tonnes in July 2023.
Considering the total collection in July 2022, which was 3,519,000 tonnes, it can be seen on a Year-on-Year scale that the aluminium production in China has come down by 49,000 tonnes to 3,470,000 during July 2023.
Similarly, suppose we wish to draw a specific data index for the Gulf Cooperation Council. In that case, it can be seen that its annual aluminium production in 2021 was 5,889,000 tonnes, which has augmented by 185,000 tonnes to close at 6,074,000 tonnes in 2023. The IAI statistic also indicates that in Q1 2022, the total aluminium production in the Middle East was 1,495,000 tonnes, which has spiked by 15,000 tonnes to clock at 1,510,000 tonnes in Q1 2023.
Gulf’s total aluminium production in June 2023 was 503,000 tonnes, and in July 2023 was 519,000 tonnes. This marks a rise of 16,000 tonnes Month-on-Month. In July 2022, the total production in the Middle East was 518,000 tonnes, which rose by 1000 tonnes to 519,000 tonnes in July 2023, displaying a Year-on-Year hike.
Other than that, Asia ex-China experienced a significant change in annual aluminium production rates. In 2021, the total aluminium production was estimated to be 4,499,000 tonnes, which grew by 92,000 tonnes to 4,591,000 tonnes in 2022. In Q1 2022, the total aluminium produced was 1,137,000 tonnes, while in Q1 2023; it was 1,147,000 tonnes, soaring by 10,000 tonnes.
In June 2023, the aluminium production in Asia ex-China was 384,000 tonnes, which gained 13,000 tonnes Month-on-Month to stop at 397,000 tonnes in July 2023. On a Quarter-on-Quarter basis, the aluminium production rate has shot up 12,000 tonnes to 397,000 tonnes in July 2023 from 385,000 tonnes in April 2023.
Last year in July, the total aluminium produced in Asia ex-China was 382,000 tonnes, which has levitated by 15,000 tonnes Year-on-Year to reach 397,000 tonnes in July 2023.
