Hydro’s Johan Berg joins Qatalum as Chief Operations Officer
Hydro announced Johan Berg, plant manager at Husnes, has been appointed as Chief Operations Officer at Hydro’s Qatalum joint-venture smelter in Qatar. Johan will start his new role on July 1, 2021 and report to Qatalum CEO Khalid Mohammed Laram.
“Berg has been four years at Husnes that has included the upgrade and restart of the B-line and returning the plant to full capacity.”
The process to find new plant manager at Husnes has been initiated.
Johan had worked as senior operational management roles, including as Head of Asset Management in Aluminium Metal. Johan also worked for Elkem and Alcoa in various management positions in operations, technology, strategy and sales in Norway, Canada, the US and Iceland.
Johan holds an MSc in Metallurgical Engineering from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology and an Executive MBA from University of Pittsburgh in the US.
