A fire broke out at Norsk Hydro’s Gloucester extrusion facility in the UK on Sunday. This has caused damages to parts of the production facilities, while offices were affected by smoke.

The plant had halted production over Easter and was not operating when the fire started. The maintenance person on duty was notified by a fire alarm and the local fire brigade was alerted. The fire brigade put out the fire within an hour after arriving at the plant, the company said in a statement.
Gloucester plant is likely to restart as soon as possible. During this period, the company will serve its customers with backup solutions from sister plants.
“The police are now investigating the fire. Hydro will routinely also conduct its own investigation to find the root cause.”
