
Norwegian aluminium producer Norsk Hydro has announced the appointment of its Execuive Vice President Kjetil Ebbesberg the chair of the European Aluminium for 2017-2018. Ebbesberg is head of Hydro’s Rolled Products business area.
“Our industry is facing challenges in Europe, particularly in the fields of trade and energy,” said Ebbesberg. “However, challenges also represent opportunities for the European aluminium industry. We have already started to seize these opportunities by launching Initiatives for Change: the Sustainability Roadmap to 2025 and the Innovation Hub. I look forward to working together with our members to achieving the ambitious targets outlined in these initiatives.”

Ebbsberg, who has been the vice-chair of the European industry group since 2015, has been succeeded by Roberta Niboli, CEO of the Italian company Raffmetal for the 2017-18 term. The new appointments were announced at the European Aluminium’s General Assembly held on October 26 in Antwerp, Belgium.

Gerd Götz, European Aluminium Director General said, “Both are extremely knowledgeable and motivated leaders in the European aluminium sector who are committed to our industry’s future.”
Ebbsberg’s association with Hydro dates back to 1996. He has worked as the company’s chief financial officer for Metal Products, head of the Foundry Alloys unit and executive vice president of Metal Markets. Presently, he is a member of Hydro’s corporate management board.
