
Hungary purchased US$91.4 billion worth of products in 2016. The country’s imports of commodities increased at an annualized rate of 1.44%, from US$96.3 billion in 2011 to $91.4 billion in 2016. Hungary witnessed a fall in aluminium tubes and pipes fittings imports in 2016. The country’s export of this commodity is projected to increase this year.

International trade data shows that Hungary imported about 1131 tonnes of aluminium tubes and pipes fittings in 2016, down from 1549 tonnes a year ago. In 2017, the total aluminium tubes and pipes fittings import volume is expected to increase noticeably to 2329 tonnes.

The cost of the total aluminium tubes and pipes fittings import stood at USD 16 million and USD 11 million in 2015 and 2016 respectively. The cost of import is estimated to increase to USD 119 million by the end of December.
Romania is the top supplier of aluminium tubes and pipes fittings to the country. Romania exported 427 tonnes last year, according to recent statistics. Germany, Czech Rep., China, Italy and the USA are the key countries from where Hungary sourced maximum volume of aluminium tubes and pipes fittings.
