Ghana Will Sustain Support For State Aluminum Company

The government of Ghana here on Friday promised to prop up state aluminum company ALUWORKS in the face of increasing competition in the market.
Vice President John Dramani Mahama made this promise during a day’s visit to the company, located in the industrial port city of Tema, about 40 km east of here.
Mahama said the government would review the procurement law, which placed local industries at equal level with importers and international industries to ensure local manufacturers did not suffer undue competition from importers.
The vice president, who used the trip to acquaint himself with operations and challenges faced by the company, promised that the company would, with time regain their competitive hold on the market.
