EPIQ Machinery, a renowned Canadian equipment designer, has undertaken a significant multi-million dollar initiative to establish Bahrain as the central hub for its expansion into the Middle East. Vivek Kumar, the company's Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), emphasised EPIQ's extensive track record of supplying crucial equipment to major aluminium smelters across the region.

Mr Kumar highlighted that adopting a 'customer-centric' approach further solidifies EPIQ's dedication to the MENA region. The team at EPIQ Machinery Services, based in Bahrain, will be strategically placed to deliver efficient sales and after-sales support and guarantee client satisfaction. This newly established facility within the kingdom is poised to cater to the needs of the aluminium industry and the pulp and paper sectors by leveraging advanced technology and offering top-tier products.
"From upgrades to new equipment development, EPIQ is enthusiastic to offer its expertise and solutions to this thriving market. Recognising the unique needs of each Mena country, we will tailor our offerings accordingly. Additionally, we're establishing a spare parts warehouse in Bahrain for faster delivery times," added Vivek Kumar.
About the new facility
The company is optimistic about the promising opportunities the growing aluminium market in the Middle East presents for technology providers such as EPIQ. With a surge in production attributed to the expansion of smelters and the inauguration of new facilities, EPIQ has strategically inaugurated a local centre in Bahrain named EPIQ Machinery Services, which is staffed with key personnel.
“Aluminium smelters are aligning with UN sustainability goals and national environmental charters. Each smelter is implementing its own plan to achieve zero carbon emissions. Electrification is a key strategy, replacing traditional vehicles with electric options and encouraging the use of automated guided vehicles (AGVs) and autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) within smelters,” explained Mr Kumar.
He added, “At EPIQ, innovation is a core value and this year we’re launching zero-point audits to analyse client machinery and recommend upgrades based on evolving anode specifications. By catering to the demand for advanced solutions, fostering partnerships, promoting sustainable practices, and expanding our regional presence, EPIQ is well-positioned to contribute to the continued progress of the aluminium industry.”
