Dubal supports Omega Dubai Desert Classic Golf Tournament

Industrial giant Dubai Aluminium (Dubal) has reinforced its commitment to making Dubai the 'hub' for all things golf by extending its support to the Omega Dubai Desert Classic‚ which celebrates its 25th anniversary early next year.
Operating one of the world's largest single-site primary aluminium smelters, Dubal has been associated with this longest-running European Tour event in Asia and the Middle East, since its inception in 1989. Dubal’s renewed support underlines the company’s resolve to back community initiatives and the broader goals of the Dubai and UAE governments.
World number one Tiger Woods, European number one Henrik Stenson and Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlory‚ among other past champions‚ will headline a stellar field for the 25th edition of the Omega Dubai Desert Classic at Emirates Golf Club in what will possibly be the strongest field ever assembled for an event outside the majors.
Widely regarded as an industrial flagship of the UAE and one of the largest non-oil contributors to Dubai's economy, Dubal celebrates its 35th anniversary in 2014, an achievement which mirrors the city’s phenomenal growth.
“Naturally, we are delighted to be part of the Omega Dubai Desert Classic, a premier golf event which provides a fantastic platform to promote golf and show the world that Dubal and the UAE are leading players,” said Mohammed A. Yahya, Manager, Corporate Relations & International Affairs, Dubal.
Mohamed Juma Buamaim, vice-chairman and CEO of 'golf in Dubai', lauded the support of Dubal in raising the global profile of the tournament through its continued support since 1992 - for 19 years as the main sponsor of the event.
“We feel privileged to have Dubal as our sponsors. The company’s devotion to the development of sport is certainly a source of confidence for all event organisers‚” he said. "With the great support of prestigious sponsors like Dubal and the presence of high ranked golfers boosting the field, we can expect a huge number of people turning up to be part of our anniversary celebrations."
