The United States Geological Survey found the US imports of aluminium from China (including crude, metal and alloys and semi-finished products) in August 2019 rose over the month by 1,104 tonnes or 13 per cent to come in at 8,831 tonnes. In July, the United States aluminium imports from China had recorded at 7,727 tonnes, after declining by 8,153 tonnes or 51 per cent from 15,880 tonnes in June. After a considerable rise of 29 per cent in July 2019, Qatar’s aluminium crude, metals and alloys exports to the United States recorded a drop in August by about 30 per cent to stand at 10,700 tonnes, found United States Geological Survey. Ongoing uncertainty in global aluminium markets and the US-China trade dispute were found to take a toll on European aluminium foil rollers in the September quarter. The overall demand had gone down by 2.2 per cent to 228,685 tonnes with year to date figures, while the total production remained unchanged at 714,251 tonnes, according to the European Aluminium Foil Association (EAFA) data.
