CWM Abu Dhabi pays benchmarking visit to DUBAL
Dubai Aluminium ("DUBAL") - which operates one of the world's largest single-site primary aluminium smelters - recently hosted a delegation from Centre of Waste Management ("CWM") Abu Dhabi, headed by Khaled Ahmed Al Faheem (Finance & Admin Manager). The purpose of the benchmarking visit was to discover more about DUBAL 's award-winning employee involvement programmes - specifically the DUBAL Employee Suggestion Scheme, which has delivered in excess of AED 172 million in savings since its inception in 1981.

Established in December 2008, CWM Abu Dhabi is the lead agency responsible for controlling and coordinating waste management activities throughout the Emirate. This includes implementing Abu Dhabi's Waste Management Strategy and all aspects of service delivery required to establish a full-cycle, integrated waste management system.

In a presentation to the delegates, Saleh Janeeh (Senior Manager: Quality Assurance & Business Excellence) explained in detail the process DUBAL follows to harness ideas from employees. Driven by a quest for continuous improvement through innovation, DUBAL has pioneered employee involvement in the UAE since the company's inception in 1979. As a result, the award-winning DUBAL Employee Suggestion Scheme has been used as a model by a large number of organisations, both locally and internationally.

Sultan Al Sabri (Vice President: Human Resources & Organisation Effectiveness) said, " DUBAL was delighted to receive the CWM delegation. "Many companies locally and internationally emulate us in the area of employee involvement. DUBAL has gained much through implementing employee ideas and is extremely proud of our employees' creativity and their achievements."
