Centre concerned over slow pace of proposed Angul Aluminium Park

<p>The centre has expressed concern over the&nbsp;slow pace&nbsp;of&nbsp;the proposed Angul Aluminium Park project at Angul, Odisha. Ramesh Abhishek, secretary of the department of industrial policy and promotion (DIPP), asked the state government to complete the aluminium park project by March, 2018.</p> <p>Angul Aluminium Park is a joint venture between Navratna firm National Aluminium Company (Nalco) and state-owned Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO).</p> <p style="text-align: center;">&nbsp;<img style="vertical-align: middle;" src="http://www.alcircle.com/uploads/images/Angul%20Aluminium%20Park-%2021st%20August.jpg" alt="news" width="448" height="300" /></p> <p>"I have personally reviewed progress of the project on June 9 and found that the progress is poor (physical progress 1.82 per cent and financial progress&mdash;INR 1.57 crore) considering that the funds were provided to the project about 18 months ago," Abhishek wrote in a letter to chief secretary&nbsp;A P Padhi.</p> <p>According to the IDCO officials, "Now, we have completed construction of the boundary wall. The approach road leading to the park will be ready by next two to three months. So, we are hopeful to complete the project within the deadline fixed by the Centre."</p> <p>{googleAdsense}</p> <p>The first of its kind aluminium park would create opportunity for downstream sector where molten aluminium would be directly fed into the downstream plants located out there. The project is fully equipped with logistics infrastructure facility, an exclusive training centre, a park administration and a display and trade services facility.</p> <p>The park would contain an Aluminium Product Evaluation Centre (APEC) furnished with a full-fledged tool room, testing, simulation and evaluation facilities, processing hall and prototype development facility.</p>
