Busy 100 days for Sapa’s new CEO

President & CEO Egil Hogna intends to spend his first 100 days gaining deep insight into the operations of his new company and its global team, with travel around the world of Sapa. He started this week in Denmark and Austria.
Already during his first week on the job, between meetings with the management team, Hogna opened his agenda and invited all employees at Sapa’s head office in Oslo for five-minute “speed dating” sessions. It lasted the entire day.
Now, he has started his tour around the world of Sapa. His first stop was in Denmark, where he visited the extrusion plant and the aluminium tubing plant in Tønder. He went from there to Austria, site of the Nenzing extrusion plant. Board union representatives Tor Egil Skulstad and Kenneth Hertz joined Hogna on the visits.
”Sapa is made up of 23,500 hard-working employees and it is important for me as CEO to get to know as many as possible of our people and to understand our business,” says Hogna.
“It is natural for me to prioritize getting insight into our operations in my first 100 days, and I really look forward to be traveling around the world of Sapa.”
Safety first One of Hogna’s key messages with employees is safety. At the production sites in Denmark and Austria, he had good time to meet operators and talk about how safety and quality are handled in their daily work.
He also emphasized the message during a townhall meeting for the 200 employees at the Nenzing plant. “Every time you do something, you have the opportunity to make a choice – the choice to do it in a safe way. I want you to make the right choice, always,” he said. “The most important thing – at work and in your private life – is safety.”
Hogna replaced Svein Tore Holsether as Sapa’s President & CEO on September 1.
