A new mining lease has been granted to the XINFA Aurum Exploration Fiji Limited for the bauxite mining site in Lekutu, Bua. Asia Pacific Investment Development (APID) Ltd has been granted the mining lease for the Rennell bauxite deposit, which was very much in demand, while Indonesian company Bingtang Borneo Ltd’s license was cancelled by the Solomon Islands government. China’s bauxite imports were 2,569,176 mt in November, down 51.59% YoY, but little changed from October. YTD imports through November totaled 33,033,154 mt, also down 49.25% YoY, customs data showed. Inbound shipments from Australia dropped 16% MoM, while those from India and Malaysia increased 29% MoM and 6% MoM, respectively. The average CIF price of imported bauxite held at USD 57.8/mt in November. The CIF price of Malaysian bauxite was USD 51.2/mt, USD 0.6/mt below that of Indonesian bauxite in November 2013.
