Bangladesh: Sonali Paper inks deal with Chinese firm to set up aluminium foil paper plant

The Dhaka Stock Exchange-listed company Sonali Paper and Board Mills Ltd of Bangladesh has inked a deal with Chinese firm Zhangjiagang Fineness Aluminium Foil Co Ltd to set up an aluminium foil paper plant in Naraynganj district’s Rupganj administrative area.

On 23rd May 2021, Mohammad Younus, Chairman of Sonali Paper and Managing Director of Younus Group and Md Zahidul Alam, Chief Executive Officer of IBN Corporation on behalf of Zhangjiagang Fineness Aluminium, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective sides in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh.

The fully automatic aluminium foil paper machine can deliver on an average 100,000 pieces of aluminium foil container boxes in a single day.

Mohammad Younus added: “This will increase the annual sales of Sonali Paper by 25%.”

The usage remains highly essential for aluminium foil containers in family banquets, food packaging industries associated with airline snack, western-style pastry baking and a lot more.

Concurrently, the industrial aluminium rolled jumbo foil is used in electronics, cigarettes, the food packing industry etc.

Younus further added: "Aviation food packaging foil of all kinds of colour and design is available, and we can coat, emboss, and slit according to clients' demand."

Presently, the 1977 born company mostly produces white and printing papers, simplex papers and duplex papers.
