The 60-year-old German aluminium closure manufacturer Closurelogic GmbH has been acquired by Guala Closures for a deal which values approximately $13.5 million, out of which $4.5 million is for inventory. Closurelogic is based at the oldest German city Worms which primarily produces closures and also manufactures combination closures for edible oil that include an HDPE pourer and anti-refill device. The deal forecasted the continuation of production at the current Germany factory. The global leader in bauxite, alumina and aluminium products Alcoa Corporation has agreed to sell its Gum Springs, Arkansas waste treatment facility in a $250 million transaction to Veolia ES Technical Solutions (VTS) in the first quarter of 2020. As per the terms of the agreement between the parties, Alcoa Corporation will be receiving $200 million in cash at closing for the sale of Elemental Environmental Solutions (EES), a 100% subsidiary of Alcoa Corporation that owns the 1,300-acre perilous waste treatment business in Gum Springs. The additional $50 million will be paid to Alcoa, after the satisfactory post-closing conditions. Production gets resumed at Hindalco’s Muri Alumina plant in Jharkhand
Hindalco Industries Ltd. announced during a filing to the BSE on 23 rd December’19 that it has resumed production at Muri alumina plant in Jharkhand. "This is to inform you that Muri refinery in Jharkhand has re-started production of alumina. Operations of the alumina plant of the company situated at Muri, Jharkhand, were suspended due to spillage in the red mud cake storage area. Going forward the company may not need to import alumina”. The Orissa High Court has directed the Secretary of State Mines department to consider and persuade within six weeks, the representation filed by Kodingamali Surakshya Manch to stop illegal mining from Kodingamali bauxite mines in Laxmipur area of Koraput district. The division bench of Chief Justice KS Jhaveri and Justice KR Mohapatra issued the direction while disposing of a PIL filed by Kodingamali Surakshya Manch on August 7 th , 2018 by President Pradeep Kumar Bagh.
