Steel bridge to get replaced by Aluminium: Carnforth canal bridge, Lancashire
The Carnforth footbridge near Lancaster in the north of Lancashire County, England, will be confiscated and replaced with a footbridge adjoining to Kellet road in Carnforth this Sunday 23 rd February’20. The Lancashire Council said: “the replacement is needed as 'surveys have shown that the existing steel bridge is deteriorating, with the aluminium one expected to need less maintenance, minimising the potential for future costs and disruption”. The US export of Aluminium scrap to South Korea remained steady during May – Oct’19
The American export of aluminium scrap to South Korea has remained steady with a total volume of 134,000 tonnes in six months from May-Oct’19. The total export to South Korea in nine months from Jan-Oct’19 was recorded at 227,000 tonnes, with 14.64% growth and in volume by 29000 tonnes from the previous year. In 2018 the total aluminium scrap to South Korea was 198,000 tonnes. During May’19 export volume to South Korea stood at 21,100 tonnes, while in June’19 it was recorded at 22,500 tonnes, a rise of 6.63%. In July’19 the US export of Aluminium scrap to Korea reflected with 19,600 tonnes, dip by 12.88%. Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) have carried out the first four units of the Honda Forza 300 maxi-scooter in Gurugram. The sold units were put up for display purpose only, but a few customers showed interest in buying them. HMSI has not yet made public the price of the scooter. The Australian junior mining company Canyon Resources provided the initial results of the final exploration phase, which was launched in September’18 of Minim-Martap and Ngaoundal bauxite deposits in northern Cameroon. Camalco, the Cameroonian subsidiary of Canyon resources, pinpointed 65 bauxite plateaux. Cameroon Alumina (CAL), former licensee of exploration on the Minim-Martap, Ngaoundal and Makan deposits pinpointed 14 bauxite plateaux; this brings the total to 79. According to Camalco, “a more refined analysis of 16 of the 79 identified plateaux increases the potential of the Minim-Martap and Ngaoundal bauxite deposit to 892 million tons. The American scrap import has shown a positive trend in Aug/Sept/Oct’19 with a total volume of 145,300 tonnes. In August’19 the volume of scrap imports stood at 45,300 tonnes, whereas in September’19 the import was recorded at 47,600 tonnes, a rise of 5.07%, with 2300 tonnes in excess. During October’19, the US aluminium scrap import was reflected at 52,400 tonnes, growth of 10.08% and by volume of 4800 tonnes from the previous month. Though the trend is showing up, when compared with the previous year during September’18, there is a decline of 12.5%. BMW has introduced a new wheel design which is more aerodynamic and provides all-round efficiency. The Aerodynamic aluminium wheel will feature on the BMW iX3 as well the iNext and i4 models. During the test run, BMW found that the new aerodynamic wheel reduced drag for the iX3 by about 5% compared with the conventionally powered BMW X3. The new aerodynamic aluminium wheels are 15% lighter than the wheels previously fitted by BMW. On 14 th February’20, the European Commission declares the opening of an anti-dumping investigation into aluminium extrusions emerged from China. The investigation follows a complaint launched by European Aluminium whose member companies are negatively impacted by the dumping of Chinese exports of aluminium extrusions.
