Vitasoy launches a pilot scheme to recycle paper, polythene and aluminium of Tetra Pak cartons
Hong Kong-based drinks giant Vitasoy has reportedly launched a pilot scheme on Tuesday, October 8, to recycle Tetra Pak cartons that need specialist recycling for having aluminium, polythene and paper layers. The pilot scheme includes recycling bins, workshops, and a mobile education centre, in partnership with Secure Information Disposal Services (SSID), which operates a waste management plant in the city’s Yuen Long district. Recycling bins along with education centre will be placed in more than 75 schools, while learning resources to be circulated in schools as well as housing estates. According to Shanghai Metals Market, the A00 aluminium ingot price has further declined in China by RMB 30 per tonne to stand at RMB 13,970 per tonne, as of October 11. Shanghai Metals Market found the social inventories of primary aluminium extended its rise across eight major consumption areas, including SHFE warrants, by 8,000 tonnes from Tuesday, October 8, to come in at 977,000 tonnes on Thursday, October 10. According to SMM, increase in cargo arrivals is the primary reason behind the continued growth in primary aluminium stocks. Chalco postpones its Boffa bauxite project launch to Q1 2020
According to a recent report, Aluminium Corporation of China, also known as Chalco, has postponed the launch of its Boffa bauxite project in Guinea until at least the first quarter of 2020. The news came after Chalco’s official declared it on Thursday, October 10. The construction of the project is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2020 before production begins, said Chalco’s director general of mineral resources Wang Dongbo at the China mining conference in Tianjin. According to a recent report, Pyrotek Inc. is likely to complete construction in November of a new manufacturing facility in Dubai, which will serve and supply the rapidly growing aluminium smelting operations in the region. Vietnam imposes highest rate of anti-dumping duties on Chinese aluminium products
According to a recent report, the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) has decided to officially impose the highest rate of anti-dumping duties on aluminium products from 16 Chinese producers. While six Chinese exporters will face the duty of 35.58 per cent, eight between 18.16 per cent and 35.39 per cent, the final two will face a rate of less than 10 per cent. The anti-dumping duties will be imposed on those aluminium products which are used for making industrial machines and structures, aluminium doors, wattle walls, storage cabinets and interior and exterior decorations and in construction as well. Japan Q4 aluminium premiums down 10% for October-December quarter
Amid ample aluminium supplies in Asia and weak demand from the electronic and auto industries, premiums for aluminium shipments to Japan for October to December have been set at $97 per tonne, down 10 per cent quarter-on-quarter. The news came after three sources directly involved in the price talks said. The figure is lower than the $108 per tonne paid in the July-September quarter, marking the first quarterly drop. It is also lower than the initial offers of $105-$115 made by producers. Japan is Asia’s biggest importer of the light metal and the premiums PREM-ALUM-JP for primary metal shipments it agrees to pay each quarter over the benchmark London Metal Exchange (LME) cash price set the benchmark for the region.
