China’s primary aluminium inventories gain 2,000 tonnes W-o-W after incessant declines
According to the Shanghai Metals Market, social inventories of primary aluminium in China totalled 1.04 million tonnes this week, as of March 31, 2022, across eight major consumption areas, including SHFE warrants. Compared to a week ago, March 24, primary aluminium inventories built up by 2,000 tonnes this week, but down by 11,000 tonnes from Monday, March 28. World’s metallurgical-grade alumina production in Feb’22 falls 8.7% M-o-M, but daily output grows 1.1% to 356,300 tonnes
World alumina production in February 2022 amounted to 10.606 million tonnes, which included 9.975 million tonnes of metallurgical-grade alumina. Hindalco Industries Limited has reduced its aluminium ingot and aluminium products prices back-to-back on two consecutive days as LME aluminium benchmark price has been shedding off since March 29. China’s alumina imports were 212,900 tonnes and 201,100 tonnes in January and February 2022, reflecting a downfall of 16.58 per cent and 5.57 per cent month-on-month.
