Aluminium producer ElvalHalcor orders aluminium hot rolling mill from SMS group

ElvalHalcor S.A., the newly merged business of Elval Hellenic Aluminium Industry S.A. and Halcor Metal Works S.A., Greece, signed an agreement with SMS group for the supply of a new four-stand aluminium tandem hot finishing mill for its Oinofyta plant near Athens. Following the hot finishing mill’s installation, ElvalHalcor will boost its production of prime aluminium flat rolled products.

“This investment allows for the increase of ElvalHalcor’s current presence in aluminium packaging, industrial, transportation and architectural applications and sets the base for expansion in the automotive and aerospace sectors,” according to SMS group press release.
“The future spectrum of hot rolled strips will range from 1.8 to 12.7 millimeters in thickness and up to 2.6 meters in width, hence securing ElvalHalcor its edge as one of Europe’s top producers of wide aluminium sheet.”
The new finishing mill will be equipped with CVCplus technology, providing flexibility to handle a demanding mix of upmarket products. The high strip quality will be ensured by the X-Pact automation and control system.
The company expects to commission the new hot rolling line in the first quarter of 2020.
