Aluminium Association of India (AAI) announces New President and Vice President

Mr. S.K. Roongta is Chairman – Bharat Aluminium Company Ltd. (BALCO) & Talwandi Sabo Power Limited (TSPL) both Vedanta Group Companies and Heads Aluminium & Power Business of the Vedanta Group comprising of 2.5 million tonnes of fully integrated aluminium and 8000 MW of Power. Earlier he served as Chairman of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) from August 2006 to May 2010.
An Electrical Engineering Graduate from BITS Pilani and PG Diploma in Business Management (International Trade) from IIFT, New Delhi, Mr. Roongta holds important positions in various apex chambers being Chair of Steel and Metal Committee of FICCI and also member of its Steering Committee and Chair of National Expert Committee on Minerals & Metals of the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC). He is also Chairman of Board of Governors (BOG) of I.I.T., Bhubaneswar.
Mr. Roongta chaired a “Panel of Experts on Reforms in the Central PSEs” constituted by the Government of India in 2010. He was also a member of the Committee formed by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, to formulate a Policy document on Corporate Governance.
Mr. Satish Pai, joined HINDALCO in June 2013 as CEO Aluminium to give strategic direction / vision to the aluminium business in India and provide operational leadership to enhance sustainable competitive strength and maximize shareholder value in February 2014, he was named Dy. Managing Director with enhanced responsibilities to lead the Metal Business to meet new challenges posed by the tough business environment. Prior to joining the Aditya Birla Group, Mr. Pai worked with Schlumberger Ltd. as the Executive Vice President, Worldwide operations, where he was responsible of all aspects of operations for Schlumberger globally, including HSE, people management, input to R&D and also P&L performance of Schlumberger globally.
A Mechanical Engineer from I.I.T., Madras, Mr. Pai joined Schlumberger Ltd. as a Field Engineer in 1985.
