Aluflexpack invests €70 million to expands its aluminium processing facility in Drniš

Aluflexpack, a Swiss based developer and manufacturer of premium flexible packaging solutions using aluminium announced that it is nearing the end of a €70 million euro ($77 million) investment in expanding and modernising its production facility in Drniš, southern Croatia. The investment includes the construction of an additional 13,000 square metres of production areas, the installation of the most modern lines for aluminium processing and refinement.

The investment is primarily funded by the company's money, with assistance from the Croatian agency for small and medium-sized businesses, innovation, and assets. HAMAG-BICRO, remarked Johannes Steurer, CEO of Aluflexpack Group, in a news statement.

"The latest investment in Drniš includes the construction of an additional 13,000 square metres of production areas, the installation of the most modern lines for processing and refinement of aluminium and the finalization of products, which increases the plant’s capacity by an additional 30,000 tonnes, respecting the highest ecological standards, and it includes an investment of 3.5 million euro in the modernization of existing and the construction of additional systems for environmental protection," said the company.

Since SwissMontana Tech Components firm took over Aluflexpack ten years ago, it has spent more than 200 million euros on its four manufacturing units in Croatia: Drnis, Omis, Umag, and Zadar. "Exports currently account for 90% of our company’s total revenue, and thanks to this investment, that percentage will grow. Also, as part of the investment, the employment of an additional 65 employees is planned," said Antonio Stojanov, a member of the company’s management board.
