Alro invests in the professional education of students in Slatina

Alro S.A. ,the largest aluminium producer in Continental Europe (except Russia and Scandinavia), has established the first dual education class in the Olt county. The project was actively supported by the Slatina Technical Metallurgic College and by the Slatina City Hall.

"Alro’s long-term strategy focuses on increasing production and diversifying the range of products", says Gheorghe Dobra, Alro General Manager. "Human resources are the main asset on which this strategy is based. We need specialized employees, able to implement our expansion plans and help us penetrate new markets. And we are willing to invest in them, by helping the formation of the next generation of aluminium specialists. We are confident that the dual education program will be a success and we intend to expand it, starting next year, with a new class, with a new specialization, as part of the same partnership with the Technical Metallurgic College".

The first dual education class has 27 students who will learn both theoretical and practical aspects of the job over a three-year curriculum and will graduate as equipment and industrial installation mechanics. Alro will offer internships and a monthly RON 200 scholarship for each student as well as a daily hot meal for the duration of the internships.

Alro has already taken steps towards establishing a new class for the following year, training future electricians and industrial equipment mechanics. This class will have 28 students.

The Company has been traditionally involved in educational projects for future employees. Alro has ongoing partnerships with high schools, post-high school and collegial organizations such as the Technical Metallurgic College in Slatina, the Polytechnic Universities in Bucharest and Brasov, the University of Craiova etc. The programs are facilitating the practical training of the students; their annual practical projects; graduation or PhD projects on various research themes or professional classes focused on specializations that are of interest to Alro.

Moreover, Alro supports the Olt county schools and high schools with various equipment, such as decommissioned vehicles for students practice at the Technical Metallurgic College and at the Alexe Marin Technical College. Alro also equipped the Physics laboratory of the National College Ion Maiorescu in Giurgiu, whose students have achieved extremely good results at the physics olympics competition.
