Alcoa’s Kleinfeld picked for China’s council of business leaders

The move comes as Alcoa sees “significant opportunity” to provide value-added products to modernising sectors of China’s economy, including the aerospace, automotive and packaging markets, Kleinfeld said in a statement.
Alcoa’s value-added gains in China include its fastening systems unit signing a contract with Commercial Aircraft Corp of China Ltd (Comac) to supply its commercial C919 aircraft.
Alcoa said it is the largest multinational investor in China’s aluminium industry, having spent $800 million in the country since 1993. Most recently, Alcoa’s wheel and transportation division opened a $29-million, fully integrated aluminium wheel manufacturing facility in Suzhou, China.
