On Saturday April 6, 2013 over 40 Alcoa Fastening Systems Simi Valley employees, their families and friends came together to beautify the Strathearn Historical Park and Museum by cleaning up the museum’s exhibit to prepare it for their 2013 Spring opening.
In addition to being open for Docent led tours, School Tours and many Specialized Events, the Simi Valley Historical Society holds many unique events throughout the year.
As a result of the volunteer effort the Stathearn Historical Park and Museum will be eligible to receive an ACTION grant from the Alcoa Foundation for $1,500.00 to support their programs. This is the fifth consecutive year the employees of AFS have come together to help beauty and preserve the historical artifacts of Simi Valley.
The Alcoa Volunteers program, ACTION (Alcoans Coming Together in Our Neighborhoods) aims to foster a unique corporate culture of service where each and every employee is encouraged, supported and recognized for the active role they play in making our communities better places to live and work.
