
Africa’s primary aluminium production came in at 121,000 tonnes in February 2021, indicating a drop of 4.72% from 127,000 tonnes in February 2020. On a month-on-month comparison, the output registered a decline of 9.02% from 133,000 tonnes, according to the latest data showed by the International Aluminium Institute (IAI) on Monday, 22 March 2021.

In the first two months of 2021, primary aluminium production stood at 254,000 tonnes from 263,000 tonnes in the first two months of 2020. That was down 3.42% year-on-year, IAI data showed.
In February 2021, world primary aluminium production plunged by 8.83% month-on-month to stand at 5.203 million tonnes. The total output in the first two months of the year stood at 10.930 million tonnes. On a year-on-year calculation, world primary aluminium production in February 2021 stood 1.25 per cent higher.
