
Africa’s primary aluminium production amounted to 133,000 tonnes in November 2019, representing a decrease of 2.92% from 137,000 tonnes in November 2018, according to the International Aluminium Institute (IAI). The output was down 3.62% from October’s production of 138,000 tonnes and 0.75% from September’s production of 134,000 tonnes.

Aluminium production came in at 1.504 million tonnes in the first eleven months of 2019 as compared to 1.527 million tonnes in the first eleven months of 2018. That was down 1.51% year-on-year.
Primary aluminium production in Africa stood at 1.668 million tonnes in 2018, slightly down from 1.679 million tonnes in 2017, IAI data showed.
Global primary aluminium production totalled 5.193 million tonnes in November, with a year-on-year drop of 2.52%. The output stood at 58.189 million tonnes in January-November 2019, slightly down by 1.11% from 58.840 million tonnes in January-November 2018.
