Precision in measurements are critical for controlling production costs of continuous processes. To address this Important SENMAX came up with an advanced non-contact laser system to measure the Hot/Cold slab shape. Laser distance and profile sensors measures width, edge profile, edge thickness and a Doppler sensor measure the length. This information is used to calculate the slab weight.

The IM-HSP is a key measurement system with integrated software for real time control of slab data including data log which permits a historic data view of products slabs. The IM-HSP integrates a flexible number of 2D laser Sensors. Our sensors are based on laser triangulation technology and in the IM-HSP system these sensors are mounted either side of the slab which capture both edge profiles. Due to this technology the projected laser line covers 100% of the slab edge. To with stand the high temperature system will be supplied with a high performance air cooling system to ensure complete reliability of operation in the hot and dirty conditions that are normal for any continuous casting line.

The system will meet customer mechanical and electrical requirements for a perfect integration into any steel mill.
