The increasing demand and consumption of special aluminium alloys in defence segment, has now given us opportunity to move beyond our traditional strengths in electrical, electronics, building segments and shift gears to the emerging applications offered by the defence and aerospace domains. Aluminium alloys are widely used in making various components of ammunition, tanks, missiles, missile batteries apart from being used extensively for making components for satellites because of its unique properties. Key policy interventions of the Indian government, particularly the ‘Make in India’ push for defence bears testimony to this increasing appeal for aluminium.
