Yamaha unveils lightweight and aerodynamic 2017 YZF-R6 at Milan Motor Show

<p>Yamaha Motor Company recently revealed the 2017 YZF-R6 supersport at the Milan Motor Show 2016.<br /><br />The new supersport was redesigned based on the original design of the Yamaha YZF-R1 and R1M. However, this supersport stresses on aerodynamics. For example, the new front cowl and screen help in decreasing aerodynamic drag by at least 8-percent.<br /><br /><img style="vertical-align: middle; display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" src="http://www.alcircle.com/uploads/images/yamaha.jpg" alt="News" width="480" height="420" /><br /><br />The YZF-R6 is powered by a 599cc inline four-cylinder engine with forged pistons. The bike features titanium inlet and exhaust valves. Lightweighting is achieved through the use of magnesium and aluminium. The magnesium head cover and engine cases together with an aluminum frame and swingarm aim to keep the weight in check. The titanium exhaust also contributes to the ethos.<br /><br />The bike also features a full suite of electronics, along with the Yamaha Chip Controlled Intake (YCC-I) and a twin-injector setup fitted with Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle (YCC-T).<br /><br />{googleAdsense}<br /><br />The new R6 is available in six ride modes, including an off mode for the race track duties. The R6 features the same brakes that were earlier applied on the YZF-R1. The brakes feature radial-mounted aluminium calipers with four-opposed pistons that grab 320mm discs.<br /><br />Yamaha confirms that the all-new YZF-R6 will be commercially launched in April 2017 in two colours including Race Blu and Tech Black.</p>
