
Turkey’s exports of commodities increased 11.6 percent year-on-year to USD 14.08 billion in July, 2018 from USD 12.61 billion in the same period previous year. The country also exports aluminium stranded wire to the global market every year. Global trade data indicates that Turkey imported 11 per cent less aluminium stranded wire in the first half of 2018, compared to the same period last year.

{alcircleadd}According to recent estimates, in 2017, the top aluminium stranded wire importing country from Turkey was the United Kingdom (3756 tonnes). Other major importers were Finland (1856 tonnes), Sweden (1804 tonnes), Iraq (1129 tonnes) and the United States of America (1224 tonnes). This year, it is estimated that Turkey will continue to export huge amount of aluminium stranded wire to the United Kingdom.

As per global import-export data, Turkey exported 9879 tonnes of aluminium stranded wire in the half of 2018, down from 11118 tonnes in the same period previous year. In the second half of 2018, the country is estimated to export 10419 tonnes of aluminium stranded wire, up 21 per cent from 8593 tonnes in the corresponding period previous year.

The value of aluminium stranded wire export stood at USD 25.7 million in the first half of 2018, down from USD 32.2 million in the first half of 2017. The value of export is estimated to stand at USD 40.5 million in the second half of 2018, from USD 18 million in the second half 2017.
